The information on this page should guide you through the registration process.
Through registering your child with 1st Sevenoaks Scout Group you will be placing them on a waiting list for available places within the group. When a relevant place becomes available within one of the sections you will be contacted with further joining instructions. Should your details change or you no longer require a place within the group then please contact our Membership Secretary.
1st Sevenoaks has enough people on the waiting lists to start new Beaver and Cub groups instantly (and this would soon lead to a new Scout Troop being needed). Unfortunately if your child is already of an age to join then the chances of becoming a member within the group are very low but the good news is that if know someone willing to commit to helping out at least 5 evenings a term you can get them a place within the troop straight away.
The following section refers to the joining process upon being successful in gaining a place.
Scouting in the Sevenoaks area is extremely popular and the demand for places far outstrips the number of places that we are able to offer. For this reason we are unable to defer an offered place to the following term and whilst we will try to accomodate your choice of evening this is not always practical. If you decide to decline the place offered to your child the only option would be to rejoin the waiting list.

Braeside Cubs – Tuesday 6.30-8pm
Hicks Own Cubs – Wednesday 6.30-8pm
Phoenix Scouts – Thursday 7-9pm
Pegasus Scouts – Friday 7-9pm
All warranted members of the leadership team have completed DBS checks. To comply with Child Protection Legislation we ask ALL our parents to complete a DBS clearance form. Unfortunately DBS’s are non transferable and all organisations are required, by law, to ensure that adults coming into contact with children in their care are DBS cleared. Once you receive your confirmed offer of a place all the relevant forms and information will be emailed to you for you to complete and return. It is group policy that a DBS form must be completed before your child can be invested into the group. The cost of DBS clearance is covered by the Scouts Association.
1st Sevenoaks Scout Group relies heavily on volunteer support in order to run. Most of our groups run a parent rota so it is necessary for a parent to help out at a meeting around once a term. All the sections require parental help to make the various camping trips and activities run as smoothly as they do. Whilst this is just the minimum level of support we ask for, we consider Scouting to be a hugely rewarding experience and would welcome additional help by taking on a role within the group, no matter how small, or even becoming a warranted leader yourself.
