The Phoenix Troop meets on Thursday evenings between 7 and 9pm during school term-time. The majority of meetings are held at the Group HQ on Oak Hill Road although some activities are held at other venues.
We endeavour to arrange one weekend camp each term. These will revolve around a theme, past themes have been Porch light, Camp Plunder and Survivor camp.
The highlight of the scouting year is the week long summer camp. This involves many activities such as kayaking, coasteering, day hike, cooking, fires and wide games. Older scouts also have the option of doing a 2 days expedition unaided by leaders.
Kayaking training sessions are held in an indoor swimming pool during the Autumn and Spring terms. Outdoor training is held on the Medway in Tonbridge during the summer term and this is followed by a trip on the River Mole.
We arrange climbing sessions at the Sevenoaks School climbing wall each term. During the summer we head to Harrison’s rocks.
We run air rifle and archery activities at the Group HQ. We are looking to expand this to include competitions against other Scout Groups.
We have been participating in the group run mountaineering trip to Snowdonia every October.
