March saw the return of the biennial Plender Hike with 60 scouts from around the district competing to take home the coveted Plender Trophy. The event consisted of scouts completing an eight mile overnight hike that ran this year from Sevenoaks Weald. This hike that starts in the afternoon and runs into the night. The teams had to navigate round the course, tackling incidents on the way. 1st Sevenoaks entered 3 teams: Pegasus Team 6 came 3rd overall. Phoenix Team 5 came 5th out of 8 unescorted teams after deliberately cutting out a section of the course in order to get an early night’s sleep. Phoenix Team 3 completed 8 out of the 9 bases and came 2nd by only 1 point (a perfect result as first place would have signed up the leadership team to organise the next one).
